Found at the northern end of quaint cobblestoned Ballard Ave., and the intersection of always active Market street, you’ll find the this thoughtfully and faithfully restored and updated slice of the lost Ballard hotel, Hotel Albatross.
You’re greeted at the entrance by an intimate coffee shop counter, finished with white tile and surrounded by amazing, vintage feel, wallpaper. Just beyond is the main room. An invigorating asymmetrical design, with booth seating along a 45 degree wall, two long sections of bar top finished in glazed wood, a second run of larger tables with views out from windows high above Shilshole Ave. all wrapped around a center stage where live music draws in the crowds.
The kitchen boasts a rare 15’ plus, type 1 hood, and ample work space to accommodate any additional needs for the cuisine you’d like to offer. A fully set up dish and pan storage area just behind the line, and even more storage just beyond that.
There is also a service window, within a few steps from the line, where you can serve your food directly to the street or use for take away or delivery driver pickup. Maybe an entirely different concept.
Downstairs, at the bottom of a very wide and well lighted stairway, you will find a roughly 4x8 walk in cooler, an employee changing area and restroom, an office, and a seemingly endless amount of dry storage.
Hotel Albatross is overflowing with charm. Run with it as existing or bring your own unique take to this fantastic room.
